After being defeated in the last Cyber War the Cybermen began an upgrade programme. The newly upgraded Cyberman army is a merge between the parallel Earth Cybus Cybermen and the Mondas Cybermen from our universe.
An army of the upgraded Cybermen were led by Missy, Missy had developed the ability to upgrade dead humans into Cybermen.
These Cybermen appeared in the stories Nightmare in Silver, The Time of the Doctor, Dark Water/Death in Heaven and the 2017 Series 10 finale episodes World Enough And Time / The Doctor Falls.
